A Piece of Someone’s History: Health Department Employee Seeks Owner Of Lost Photograph

Do You Recognize This Photo?

SMITHFIELD, N.C. – Sometimes the most valuable things aren’t expensive—they’re memories.

A Johnston County Health Department employee is hoping the community can help reunite someone with what appears to be a treasured family photograph found lying in the roadway earlier this month.

Pam Strickland said she discovered the old black-and-white photograph.

“I found the picture on July 1st,” Strickland said. “It was laying in the road on Turner Drive that goes to the hospital and the Health Department.”

Rather than leaving it behind, Strickland picked it up in hopes of finding its rightful owner.

While it’s impossible to know the story behind the photograph—or how it ended up in the middle of the road—old family pictures often become priceless keepsakes passed down through generations. For someone, this photograph may represent a cherished memory that cannot be replaced.

Strickland is asking residents to take a close look at the photo. Someone in the community may recognize the person pictured or know who the photograph belongs to.

If you recognize the photograph or believe it belongs to you or someone you know, contact Pam Strickland at the Johnston County Health Department by calling 919-209-8313.

With a little help from the community, Strickland hopes this small piece of family history can be returned to the person or family who has likely been wondering where it disappeared.
