Several homes on Princeton Kenly Road in eastern Johnston County were without power this morning (Wednesday) due to an auto accident.
Takiria Myah Cummings, 17, of Kenly was traveling on the rural roadway about 2.9 mile northeast of Princeton at 12:48am when she ran off the road to the right, traveled back across the highway on the left striking a ditch and power pole, causing the pole to break.
After the impact, the power lines fell across Cummings 2014 Dodge. She remained inside the car and called 911 requesting help.
The Princeton and Kenly Fire Departments responded to the scene and stood by until Duke Energy crews could arrive. Trooper D.K. Douglas charged Cummings with failure to maintain lane control. She was not injured. Damage to the car was estimated at $3,000.
