Adult Volunteer Of The Year Named

Sharon Schoenholz of West View Elementary School has been named the 2017 Johnston County Public Schools Adult Volunteer of the Year at the annual PTA/PTO Council Meeting Banquet, held at Smithfield-Selma High School on April 24.

Schoenholz has logged 392 volunteer hours this year at West View Elementary, where she helped students with reading, math, and science experiments and gave encouraging words to students and staff.

2017 JCPS Adult Volunteer of the Year Sharon Schoenholz (center) stands with (from left) JCPS Superintendent Dr. Ross Renfrow and Board of Education Chairman Michael C. Wooten.

When Schoenholz is not at the school, she is busy picking up items for the classroom and supplies for students and teachers. She is described as someone with a “can do” attitude, who has an infectious smile, and who uplifts each child and individual she has the opportunity to meet.

According to school staff, Schoenholz has become a special part of the classroom community at West View Elementary, and she is caring and giving of her time, talents, knowledge, and skills all from her heart.
