Air And Ground Search Leads To Arrests After Stolen Car Flees Police

CLAYTON – A police pursuit involving a stolen vehicle ended Tuesday in Clayton with one suspect arrested on the scene and another taken into custody later in Raleigh.
According to the Clayton Police Department, around 11:50 a.m. officers attempted to stop a 2007 Toyota Prius that had been reported stolen. The driver refused to pull over, prompting a brief chase that ended near the intersection of Clayton Boulevard and Alliance Drive.

Both the driver and passenger fled the vehicle on foot. Officers quickly apprehended one suspect, identified as Montrell Da’Shawn Johnson. The second individual initially evaded capture.
Johnston County Sheriff’s deputies assisted Clayton Police in an extensive search of the area. K-9 units, drones, and a North Carolina State Highway Patrol helicopter were deployed to aid in the search.

Following further investigation, the driver was identified as 21-year-old Anthony Apodaca of Raleigh. He was later arrested by Raleigh Police.
The investigation remains ongoing.

The whole world has gone bat $#!t crazy since Covid. Crime has exploded and people don’t stop for police anymore, like it’s a sport or competition. Thank you to all law enforcement who put themselves in harms way to protect the public. Great job! Most of us do appreciate your efforts.
@Will: Not even remotely true! People like you who try to spread FUD without facts are the single biggest problem in our country today. The NC SBI crime stats *CLEARLY* show that the crime index rate in NC is now 6.5% *LOWER* than it was before COVID:

100% agree, that’s what the Demoncrats wanted to happen!! Now we have to try and fix it
Search Google for “Anthony Apodaca Raleigh NC”. This is not his first time. He needs a couple of decades in prison to keep him away from the public.
Wilsons Mills Police Department had three units there also assisting in the search since it was in their jurisdiction and requested by Clayton Police.
