SMITHFIELD – The annual Johnston County Department of Social Services Angel Tree program brightened Christmas for several hundred needy children this year. Johnston County DSS employees recently came together to organize and pack gifts for the recipients of the Angel Tree Program.
Social services plays a crucial role in coordinating the community event and ensuring that children in foster care or the Adolescent Parenting Program receive Christmas gifts.
The heartwarming program thrives on the kindness of the community who generously purchase gifts for a child featured on the Angel Tree.
This year, 441 children will be assisted. That number is up from 350 kids who were assisted in 2022.
