A Johnston County man has been arrested for allegedly breaking into a home earlier this month stealing a handgun. The break-in was reported on West Road on January 4th. The victim said she returned home and discovered the break-in and the firearm missing from the bedroom area.
Deputies responded to an unrelated call last Saturday on Massengill Pond Road and located the stolen firearm inside the home. Officers questioned 20 year-old Christopher Jameson Burnette of the 1100 block of Massengill Pond Road, Angier. During questioning he allegedly confessed to the break-in and gun theft.
Burnette was arrested Tuesday and charged with three felonies: breaking and entering, larceny of a firearm and possession of a stolen firearm. Bail was set at $5,000.
