An existing animal hospital has been given the green light to build in a new location.
Johnston Animal Hospital won approval from the Smithfield Town Council this month to build a new facility on 1.8 acres of land at 822 North Brightleaf Boulevard at the intersection of Pitchi Street.
Plans call for a 5,000 square foot building with 36 parking spaces and outdoor dog run areas. Access to the new animal hospital will be off of Pitchi Street.
The Smithfield Planning Board unanimously approved the plan at their September meeting.
Dr. Mike and Kathy Ward purchased Johnston Animal Hospital from Dr. John Booker in February 2009 at their present location at 1266 North Brightleaf Boulevard next to Hardee’s.
