The Town of Benson held a tree planting ceremony Friday afternoon in front of Four Oaks Bank & Trust Company on East Church Street.
Benson Mayor William Massengill and his nephew, Robert, were on hand to plant a beautiful new tree.
“On this Arbor Day, it’s important to recognize the significance of the tree-lined streets we have in Benson,” Mayor Massengill said. “We only have to look to the past to realize that people plant trees for the future. For future generations we can look in our Grove and see how people did that and we are the beneficiaries of it. So, we want to continue to replace trees as they die and continue to add to our urban forestry here in Benson.”
It’s important for Benson and the world to take care of the trees. Trees are beautiful, but they are also a life source for our ecosystem and our future generations depend on us to take care of the environment not just today, but every day.
