Van Collides With Tree
SMITHFIELD – One person was transported to the hospital after a van collided with a tree. The single vehicle accident was reported around 2:00pm today (Friday) on US 301 South of Smithfield near Galilee Road.
A white van traveling northbound on US 301 ran off the roadway to the right, sideswiped a tree, then collided head on with another tree.
A female passenger was trapped in the wreckage. The passenger was freed by Smithfield Fire personnel then placed on a stretcher and moved to a Johnston County EMS ambulance.
The driver of the van was not injured.
Smithfield Police are investigating.

how did they know it was a head on collision? Maybe the van hit the tree from behind. or t-boned it? things are not always what they see.
