On December 17th, a Smithfield man was riding on Rains Crossroads Road near Princeton-Kenly Road when someone shot out the driver’s side window of his vehicle. The bullet narrowly missed the 32 year-old victim, striking the head rest of his seat.
Nearly three months later, the Johnston County Sheriff’s Office announced on Friday an arrest had been made in the case.
Gregory Lamar Stallworth Sr., 44, of Mars Street, Dunn has been charged with discharging a firearm into occupied property, a felony offense. Investigators said the shooting appears to have been random.
The victim said he was in the area attempting to located a friend who had called and asked for a ride. The driver was not injured.
Stallworth was confined in the Johnston County Jail under a $40,000 bond.
