Arrest Made In Attempted Business Break-In

JOHNSTON COUNTY – A homeless 29 year-old man is charged with attempting to break into a Cleveland community business.

Around 3:42 a.m. Saturday, June 28, the Johnston County Sheriff’s Office responded to a suspicious person call at a motel, on Veterans Parkway near I-40. The individual, later identified as Corey Taylor Durham, was reportedly intoxicated and shouting that he had just broken into Just Tires.

An officer found Durham near the motel. Another officer located a broken window at Just Tires on Bratton Drive. There was no evidence Durham had gone inside the business.

During his arrest, deputies said they found a number of household items in Durham’s possession that appeared to have been stolen from a nearby Walmart. A pill bottle containing Xanax and Suboxone was also found.

Durham was charged with attempted breaking and entering, injury to property, misdemeanor larceny, resisting a public officer, and simple possession of a controlled substance.
