Police have arrested a Smithfield man they say is responsible for a business break-in earlier this month. On February 9th, a break-in was discovered at Smithfield City Florist, located at 902 South Brightleaf Boulevard.
Police Captain R.K. Powell said a video surveillance camera captured the suspect shatter a window and gain entry. Once inside $100 worth of candy was stolen. Captain Powell said officers recognized the suspect on the video as Robert Alan Jones II from Lakeside Drive.
Jones was arrested Tuesday and charged with felony breaking and entering and felony larceny.
