An elderly woman was the victim of an early-morning home invasion. A teenager who lives in the same neighborhood has been charged by the Johnston County Sheriff’s Office and the search is underway for at least one other suspect.
Around 5:00am Saturday, the elderly victim said she was asleep inside her home on Crantock Road near Smithfield when she heard her back door being forced open. Two male suspects, dressed in all black clothing and ski masks, entered her home and stole $500 in jewelry items.
The suspects then fled on foot. No weapons were displayed.
Kaleb Dylan Hines, 18, also of Crantock Road, was arrested a few hours later and charged with first degree burglary, second-degree kidnapping and larceny. Bail was set at $100,000. The search for at least one other suspect is still ongoing.
The victim was not harmed.
