SMITHFIELD – Congratulations to Ashley Holloman, the 2024 JCPS Career & Technical Education (CTE) Teacher of the Year.
Mrs. Holloman has served as an agriculture education teacher and FFA Advisor at Corinth Holders High School (CHHS) for nine years, and has been with JCPS for 10 years.
Mrs. Holloman is respected by the staff and students at CHHS. In fact, CHHS Assistant Principal Michelle Disney said, ”Mrs. Holloman voluntarily spends personal time maintaining program animals, participating in community activities with FFA, and keeping abreast of the latest research practices in animal science to ensure her students receive the best agricultural education experience. We are blessed to have her.”
The CHHS FFA Chapter is robust and has more than 500 members. Through differentiated instruction and experiential learning, Mrs. Holloman helps students gain the confidence they need to apply what they have learned in the classroom to real-life situations. Holloman believes that collaboration, cooperation, and open communication between school and community are keys to building a strong foundation for a successful student.
JCPS Career & Technical Education congratulates Mrs. Holloman on her accomplishment. “Ashley Holloman leads a high-quality CTE program complete with rigorous instruction and engaging experiential learning,” JCPS CTE Director Reno Palombit said.
Mrs. Holloman will advance as a North Central Region finalist. Twenty-four regional finalists will attend a celebration, and a week of Teacher Professional Development at the NC Center for the Advancement of Teaching’s (NCCAT) Cullowhee campus in the fall. A selection committee will review portfolios and interview the 24 finalists. The winner of the NCCAT CTE Teacher of the Year will be announced at a celebration event on October 3, 2024.
