Plans for a new 66 unit assisted living center in Smithfield have been approved.
Smithfield Assisted Living was approved by the Smithfield town council during their July meeting.
The new facility will be constructed on Kellie Drive off Booker Dairy Road across from Smithfield Selma High School and next to Neuse Charter School.
There were some concerns expressed about increased traffic near the two schools but the town council voted unanimously to approve the plans submitted by Affinity Living of Hickory. The property is owned by Frank Lee and Wolfpack Investors LLC of Smithfield.
