A suspect wanted for the attempted robbery of a man using the Wells Fargo ATM at 7265 Highway 42 West in Johnston County has been arrested.

John Christopher Steen, age 22, of the 3200 block of Zack’s Mill Road, Angier surrendered to deputies January 17 and was charged with attempted robbery with a dangerous weapon.
On December 30, 2022, Steen is accused of approaching the victim as he used the ATM. While armed with a knife, Steen allegedly demanded the victim hand over money. The victim fled, and for a brief time, followed the suspect in a silver Mazda passenger car that did not have a license plate.

Steen was held under a $50,000 secured bond at the Johnston County Jail.
