Authorities: Group Home Staffer Charged In Alleged Child Sex Assaults

JOHNSTON COUNTY, N.C. — A Moore County man is facing multiple felony charges after authorities say he sexually assaulted a child at a group home in the McGee’s Crossroads community.

Marcus Melvin Bowser, 30, of West End, N.C. was arrested April 15 and charged with four counts of statutory sex offense with a child, four counts of indecent liberties with a child, four counts of sex act by a government or private institution employee, and four counts of sexual servitude of a child victim. He is being held without bond.

The Johnston County Sheriff’s Office said the alleged assaults occurred at a group home in the McGee’s Crossroads area where Bowser was employed as a staff member at the time.

Investigators said the case was first reported in June 2025 and involves a resident of the group home. Authorities said the charges stem from four separate incidents.

No additional details about the incident have been released.
