Authorities Seize Drugs, Arrest Suspect In Kenly Raid

KENLY, N.C. – After a monthlong investigation, deputies moved in on a property in the 6800 block of U.S. Highway 301 and arrested a man they allege had been selling illegal narcotics.
The search warrant, carried out March 19 near Kenly, was the result of a joint effort between the Johnston County Sheriff’s Office and the Wilson County Sheriff’s Office.
Officers reported finding nearly 12 grams of suspected methamphetamine along with drug-related items. Authorities allege the operation was being run from a camper on site.

The suspect, Bill Lee Mayo, 60, was taken into custody without incident. Deputies said he was already wanted on an outstanding probation violation from 2021 and charges connected to a 2024 vehicle pursuit in Wilson County.
Following the arrest, Mayo was booked on multiple charges, including drug trafficking-related offenses and several driving violations tied to the earlier case. His bond was set at $150,000.
