A 52 year-old man is facing misdemeanor larceny charges after he allegedly shoplifted a $24 pair of headphones from Belk’s at 1231 N. Brightleaf Boulevard in Smithfield. Police said they were dispatched to Belk’s at 11:25am Thursday.
Before police arrived, the suspect left in his vehicle which was located minutes later by Selma Police pulling into an Exxon store on Highway 70 next to I-95. Selma Police said the suspect threw the stolen merchandise into a trash can outside the business.
Rodney Alan Runge of Dunn was cited for misdemeanor larceny. He was released from custody pending an April 22nd court date in Smithfield. The stolen headphones were recovered by police.
