Benson Woman Charged With Identity Theft

A Benson woman was arrested February 23rd on felony identity theft charges.  Monica Sykes Shultz, of Mamie Road, was held on a $100,000 bond.

According to the Johnston County Sheriff’s Office, Shultz had recently been arrested for a similar incident and was out of jail on bail awaiting trial when she was arrested on the latest charge.

In this case, on January 25th, a 56 year-old Clayton woman reported her debit card had been stolen and used to make an online purchase for $57.95.  Sheriff’s detectives said they were able to link Shultz to the crime.

  1. “Shultz had recently been arrested for a similar incident and was out of jail on bail awaiting trial when she was arrested on the latest charge”

Here’s another example that we need to do away with bail. Criminals should stay in jail until their trials. This is ridiculous!!!!

  2. She’ll be let out again because criminals have more “rights” than the rest of us. Don’t want them to get Covid… Don’t want them to be too crowded in jail, or not enough servings of fruit, or a cup of soy milk or some other excuse of the day. Next you know, they’ll be lobbying for prison massage therapists.
