Bird Bath Bandits Ruffle Feathers In Smithfield
SMITHFIELD, N.C. — It’s not every day someone steals a concrete bird bath. It’s even more unusual when two disappear from the same neighborhood.
Smithfield police are investigating a pair of unusual thefts reported July 14 involving concrete bird baths taken from two homes just a few blocks apart.
An 81-year-old Pace Street resident told officers a concrete bird bath and pedestal had been removed from the yard.
Later that same day, a 60-year-old resident on nearby Britt Street also reported a concrete bird bath missing. In addition to the bird bath, two one-gallon gasoline cans were reported stolen.
Concrete bird baths are heavy and awkward to move, leading investigators to believe the thief or thieves likely used a vehicle to haul away the items.
Smithfield Police said they have no suspects or leads and have not determined whether the two thefts are connected.
Anyone with information about the incidents is asked to contact the Smithfield Police Department.

Probably the same group that stole those dead squirrels that time
Lol
I had some yard ornaments stolen a few months ago. Nothing of any value. A friend had previously commented on one my yard ornaments on a visit. She was shopping at the flea market in Smithfield, and she saw one “just like it” and took a picture. Someone had taken my ornaments and had them for sale at the flea market. I had hand painted them. By the it me she sent me the picture they were gone. Try the flea markets if you can identify the bird baths.
My neighbor on shady lane dr had same thing happen couple weeks ago they stole her birdbath as well this is in same neighborhood!
Sounds like there are some Dirty Birds in the neighborhood.
Gonna be some “Dirty Birds” in the hood
The birds won’t be dirty, they had their baths
