A woman’s body was found beside the roadway Friday night in Johnston County. Investigators are trying to determine the identity of the woman and how she died.
The Johnston County Sheriff’s Office said they responded to a 911 call at 8:52pm from a passing motorist who reporting seeing the body beside Pierce Road just off Highway 50 North, not far from the Wake County line.
Authorities responded and found a deceased white female. She had no identification. Her body was sent to the Chief Medical Examiner’s Office in Raleigh for an autopsy to determine how she died and to assist with identification.
As of Monday morning, the victim had still not been identified.
Investigators are asking anyone who traveled on Pierce Road between 6pm and 9pm Friday and saw anything suspicious to contact detectives at 919-989-5000. Callers can remain anonymous.
