Body Found In July Identified As Missing Johnston County Woman

KENLY – A body located in July has been positively identified as a missing Johnston County woman. Christel Page McGowan was reported missing to the Kenly Police Department on July 7, 2023.

Two days later, on July 9, the remains of an unidentified person were found in the Kenly city limits. After conducting a thorough investigation, Police Chief James Ayers announced today (Monday) the body has been identified as the 50 year-old woman. No foul play was involved.

“Our hearts go out to the family and friends of Christel during this incredibly difficult time, and we extend our deepest condolences for their loss,” Chief Ayers said. “The Kenly Police Department collaborated closely with the North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation (NCSBI) throughout the course of this investigation. We are immensely grateful for the dedication and exceptional work demonstrated by the men and women of the NCSBI who were instrumental in bringing this case to its conclusion.”

“We would also like to express our gratitude to the community for their patience and support during the investigation. Your cooperation and understanding were paramount to the progress and resolution of this case.”

“Our thoughts remain with Christel’s loved ones as they cope with this tragic loss, and we urge everyone to respect their privacy during this challenging time,” Chief Ayers said Monday afternoon while making the announcement.

Folks go take a look at the movie trailer Mad Max staring Mel Gibson back in 1980 that protrayed a society that had collapsed with lawlessness and carnage.  For real look at the society portrayed in this movie trailer and look at our society now, it is as if the characters has just walked out of the movie and into our so-called modern society of reality.  Not only do we have a population today that amazingly resembles the characters of this fictional movie but our crime and the lack of value for life in the real world today makes the movie look as if it was as safe in it as it is today.

    • If you look at statistics which I am sure you do not you will see that crime as a whole has gone down in America compared to the 70s and 80s. Sure we see reports of crime everyday because of all the news outlets online and social media but overall it is not the same. Stop looking at Fox News thinking the end is near is my suggestion. Go touch grass.
