Bond Revoked For Vandalism Suspect Recently Charged With Stalking

WILSON’S MILLS – A judge has revoked the bond of a man awaiting trial on vandalism and felony stalking charges.

Romaro Delson Matthews, age 46, of New Bern, NC was originally charged November 9, 2023 with spray painting two vehicles and homes on Imperial Drive in the Ives Landing subdivision.

Matthews was released on bond after his arrest last year. He was recently charged with felony stalking after Wilson’s Mills Police said he visited the female victim’s house at least three times after being ordered not to do so. The most recent contact occurred last week.

Following a hearing on Wednesday, April 24 in Johnston County Superior Court, a judge revoked the original $10,000 bond and ordered Matthews be taken into custody and held under a $1 million secured bond.

Police Chief A.Z. Williams told The Johnston County Report, “This individual is disturbed. Mr. Matthews has contacted the victim in this case repeatedly. However, thanks to our victim’s voice and my investigator’s due diligence, I believe the Courts now understand how much of a threat this individual really is.”

    • We don’t know the circumstances behind that HIGH bond. It may be that he has threatened to kill the victim…???? and that may be the only way to completely keep her safe…
