Smithfield Police are investigating a business break-in. Around 2:44 AM Saturday, officers discovered a break-in at the BP Service Mart at 272 Highway 210.
A window was shattered by the intruder. Once inside, a cash register was damaged and an undisclosed amount of money was removed.
Police Captain T.S. Choe said the suspects blood was found at the scene. A sample of the blood will be submitted to the SBI in an attempt to identify the burglar.
Damage to the window and cash register was estimated at $1,200.
