More and more businesses are seeing an increase in counterfeit money being passed. In recent days, businesses at the I-40/NC210 intersection and on US70 in Selma have reportedly counterfeit money has been used to pay for merchandise.
In Selma, police said a man paid for gasoline at the Shell station with a bogus $20 bill. Police said the man entered the business, presented the counterfeit $20 in payment for $10 worth of fuel, and received $10 in change. The clerk later noticed the bill was fake.
Selma Police have not located the suspect in the case.
