CLAYTON – The drivers of two vehicles sustained minor injuries after a van and passenger car collided Monday afternoon at the intersection of Little Creek Church Road and Pony Farm Road south of Clayton.
The driver of a blue Nissan passenger car reported that the brakes on her vehicle failed causing her to run through a stop sign and collide with the side of a passing white work van. The van was forced off the roadway into a field. After the impact, the engine compartment of the blue car caught on fire. The fire was extinguished by crews from the Clayton Fire Department.
Johnston County EMS transported the driver of the van to the hospital. The Nissan driver declined transport.
The State Highway Patrol is still investigating the collision.
