PRINCETON – Wednesday afternoon a driver was cited for failure to maintain lane control after he drove off of US Highway 70 near Princeton and caused $50,000 to $70,000 damage to the Outdoor Designs business, telephone equipment, and a power pole. The driver’s car was also destroyed.
The car, reportedly traveling above the posted speed limit, first struck a driveway culvert before plowing through DOT highway signs, dog houses, small sheds, outdoor furniture, and other hand-crafted items made and sold at that location.
The driver reportedly had no explanation as to why he lost control. He was not impaired, according to authorities.
The 2:00pm accident was investigated by the North Carolina State Highway Patrol.
