Carolina Creator Fest Puts Local Artists, Creativity On Display

New Johnston County Festival Invites Public Into Creative Process

JOHNSTON COUNTY, N.C. – A new arts festival built by local creators will give Johnston County residents a chance not only to see finished artwork, but also to watch it being made and take part in the creative process.

Carolina Creator Fest will be held Saturday, Oct. 3, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Artmosphere Community Arts Center.

The free festival will bring together artists, makers, performers, vendors, nonprofit groups and creative organizations from Johnston County and across the Carolinas.

Unlike a traditional arts market centered primarily on finished work for sale, organizers say Carolina Creator Fest will put demonstrations and participation at the center of the event.

Visitors will be able to watch creators work, experience live performances, participate in hands-on activities, talk directly with artists and organizations and shop from participating vendors.

The goal is to give people an opportunity to discover art forms, ideas and creative experiences they may not normally encounter.

Food trucks and snack vendors will also be on site throughout the day.

Carolina Creator Fest is presented by Curious Lotus Tattooing in collaboration with Art Bridge Community, an emerging arts initiative created to strengthen and expand access to the arts in Johnston County and the Carolinas.

Art Bridge Community brings together Curious Lotus Tattooing, Artmosphere Community Arts Center, Garden & Gather and Right Angles Framing & Art.

Organizers said the festival grew from a simple idea: give creative people of all kinds a place to show the community what they do, explain what creativity means to them and invite others to participate.

Creators from a wide range of disciplines are expected to take part, along with nonprofit organizations and community groups that will share information about their work and missions.

Organizers said the broader goal is to make the arts easier for people to experience while creating more opportunities for artists and the public to connect.

Art Bridge Community is focused on creative exchange, collaboration, learning, events and shared experiences, with an emphasis on supporting the arts locally and throughout the Carolinas.

A full schedule of demonstrations and entertainment will be announced closer to the event.

Carolina Creator Fest will be held 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 3, at Artmosphere Community Arts Center located at 3919 Raleigh Road near Clayton.

Admission is free and the event is open to the public.
