Officer Julie Smith Carroll has taken her oath as a Smithfield Police Officer. Carroll recently completed Basic Law Enforcement Training and was hired by Police Chief Keith Powell to fill a vacancy on the patrol division. She is currently completing her field training.
Mayor Andy Moore gave the oath to Officer Carroll during the October town council meeting.
Officer Carroll is a Johnston County native. She graduated from Johnston County Schools and went on to obtain a degree in Criminology from North Carolina State University. She has also completed training in Crisis Intervention.
“I feel honored to serve the community that I love. I understand the importance of community-oriented policing and strive to continue strengthening the bond between the Smithfield Police Department and the citizens we serve,” Carroll said.
