KENLY – The Johnston County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a theft at a Kenly area church. It was discovered Sept. 11th at Sylvia Chapel Missionary Baptist Church on Highway 222 about nine miles west of Kenly.
A member of the church discovered the catalytic converter had been stolen from the church van. The theft occurred sometime earlier while the van was in the church parking lot.
There are no suspects.
This is not the first time rural Johnston County churches have been targeted by thieves. In December 2017, about a half dozen churches reported catalytic converters had been stolen from their passenger vans.
