Cause Determined In Kenly Mobile Home Fire

KENLY, N.C. – Fire officials say discarded smoking materials caused a mobile home fire last week in the Kenly area.

Around 2:50 p.m. on April 22, crews from the Kenly, Micro and Bethany fire departments responded to a reported structure fire on Beulahtown Road, along with Johnston County EMS and the Johnston County Fire Marshal’s Office.

Firefighters arrived to find a working fire and were able to bring the blaze under control quickly.

One dog was rescued from inside the home and is reported to be doing well. No injuries were reported.

The Johnston County Fire Marshal’s Office later determined the fire was accidental and caused by improperly discarded smoking materials.

The American Red Cross was contacted to assist the displaced family.
