A fire that destroyed a $50,000 commercial work truck Tuesday has been ruled arson. Charges are pending in the case.
The vehicle was owned by Wayne L. Adams Inc. of Four Oaks.
Around 2:00pm, a resident on Aquilla Road outside of Benson reported that someone had knocked over the trash can next to their home and set the debris on fire. The homeowners quickly extinguished the fire themselves. A few minutes later they looked out the window of the home and saw the work truck parked in the driveway on fire. The West Johnston Fire Department responded and doused the flames.
Johnston County Sheriff’s Captain Jeff Caldwell said the vehicle fire was arson and charges are pending.
