Charges have been filed in connection with a two vehicle accident last Tuesday that injured a motorcyclist.
Smithfield Police said the Aug. 14th crash occurred at 7:08pm on Brogden Road at Martin Luther King Drive near I-95.
According to an accident report, Kelvin Genell King of Princeton was traveling westbound on Brogden Road operating a 2014 Ford SUV. A 2003 Harley Davidson motorcycle was traveling eastbound on Brogden Road and being driven by George Govindow McCammon of Smithfield.
King attempted to make a turn but pulled directly into the path of the motorcycle. Police said McCammon applied the brakes but could not avoid striking the front right corner of the SUV.
McCammon was taken to Wake Medical Center for treatment of serious injuries. King was not injured. Officers have now cited King with an unsafe movement violation.
Damage to the Ford SUV was estimated at $2,000. Damage to the Harley Davidson was placed at $5,000.
