Child’s Mother Charged Months After 2-Year-Old’s Death
JOHNSTON COUNTY – More than five months after the death of a 2-year-old boy in Johnston County, the child’s mother has been charged as the investigation into the case continues.

The Johnston County Sheriff’s Office announced that on Dec. 19, Kayla Michelle Blue, 27, of Cleveland Road in Garner, was charged with felony intentional child abuse causing serious physical injury. The charge followed an ongoing investigation and consultation with the Johnston County District Attorney’s Office on Dec. 18.
Authorities said Blue was at work at the time her live-in boyfriend, Lance Nolan Pearce, allegedly injured the child. Investigators said evidence obtained during the investigation, including text messages, indicates Blue had knowledge of events that occurred while she was away from the home.
Blue was taken into custody and placed in the Johnston County Detention Center, where she was given a $75,000 secured bond.
Pearce, 30, was previously charged with murder in connection with the child’s death and remains held without bond.

The case dates back to July 3, when Johnston County EMS responded to a report of a child having a seizure at a residence in the 10400 block of Cleveland Road in western Johnston County. The child, identified as Jensen Scott Jackson, was transported to WakeMed with severe injuries and later died on July 6.
Pearce was initially charged with intentional child abuse inflicting serious bodily injury. After the child’s death, the charge was upgraded to murder.
The Johnston County Sheriff’s Office said the investigation remains ongoing. No additional details are being released at this time.

A mother should not be more concerned with a man or the status of her relationship before the safety of her own children. She should also be extremely cautious of allowing someone not related to her children or someone she hasn’t known that long putting their hands on those kids for physical discipline. This is the problem with being so eager to date and have that be your main focus when you have children to start with. Even if she never raised a hand to them, she is just as guilty as he is for having knowledge about this and leaving those innocent babies defenseless. A mother’s job is to protect, and she failed them. I hope she feels guilty every time she thinks about him. And I hope any remaining children are kept far, far away from her because clearly her decision making and her will to protect her babies is not there. I can only imagine what this little boy went through and all the days he went through it before his death as a direct result of the situation that his mother put him in. WAKE UP AND CARE ABOUT YOUR KIDS MORE THAN A MAN
She should be charged the same as he. As a mother knowing what was happening something she could have stopped, that’s not a mother but a monster!!!!
It’s safe to assume that he’ll get some extra attention in prison for this horrific crime.
