Hocutt Baptist Church was filled with music, fun, laughter and food on Saturday as nearly 60 volunteers from the church packaged over 11,800 meals for the needy.
Through a partnership with Feeding Children Everywhere, the meals will feed hungry people throughout the community, utilizing the food pantry of With Love from Jesus for distribution. The pantry provides food, clothing, prayer and hope for 3,000 people every month in Wake and Johnston counties.
Brad Fleming with Feeding Children Everywhere praised the volunteers. “They are truly demonstrating God’s love to the community and state through the work of their hands.”
The meal produced is a tasty Lentil Casserole that has all the vitamins and minerals a body needs to grow and stay strong.
“Someone may enjoy a hot meal this week thanks to the positive action of this church,” Fleming said.
Pastor Brad Lee said, “We are thankful for the ministry of Feeding Children Everywhere. We love our community and are excited about this opportunity to meet a real need in Clayton and the surrounding areas. We simply want to be the hands and feet of Jesus.”
Feeding Children Everywhere is a social charity that has empowered 350,000 volunteers to package 52 million meals since 2010. More than 70 percent of this food remained in the United States; the rest was distributed internationally.
Volunteers packaged a total of 11,808 meals.
