Cigarette Sparks Doublewide Fire

SELMA – A Selma-area home was destroyed by flames. Around 3:30am Sunday, Bethany, Micro and Selma Fire Departments responded to 2269 Shoeheel Road for a doublewide mobile home fire.

Personnel arrived to find flames coming from the roof of the home. It took crews about an hour to bring the blaze under control.

The Johnston County Fire Marshal’s Office said the fire started on the back deck due to an improperly discarded cigarette.

Five people inside the home escaped without any injuries. The Red Cross responded and is assisting the family.
