Just weeks after approving their town budget, the Town of Clayton has amended fees for electric meter installation to compensate for increases in the Town’s cost to purchase meters.
The fee changes, which are effective immediately, have increased the cost of residential electric meter installation from $75 to $100, small commercial from $250 to $350 and large commercial from $400-$500.
The Clayton Town Council gave town employees the authority to re-examine the meter fees in the future, adjusting rates using the formula of cost plus 10 percent. Officials said this will allow the Town to maintain a cost recovery basis for electric operations.
