Clayton Man Charged After 100 MPH Motorcycle Chase
CLAYTON, N.C. – A 19-year-old Johnston County man has been arrested after authorities said he led Wayne County deputies on a motorcycle chase at speeds exceeding 100 mph before fleeing into a cornfield in Sampson County.
Brayden Kenneth Daker, of Daffodil Lane in Clayton, was arrested following the Sept. 5 incident.
According to the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office, deputies received multiple calls from concerned motorists about a motorcycle being driven erratically and at high speeds in the Grantham area.
Deputies located the motorcycle on N.C. 13 South traveling toward Newton Grove and attempted to make a traffic stop.
Authorities said the rider refused to stop and fled, reaching speeds of more than 100 mph.
The chase ended near Creel Road and N.C. 55 in Sampson County, where the rider allegedly abandoned the motorcycle and ran into a cornfield.
Deputies were unable to immediately locate him but said they were able to identify the driver and obtained warrants for his arrest.
With assistance from the Johnston County Sheriff’s Office, Daker was later arrested in Clayton.
He was charged with felony fleeing to elude arrest, resisting a public officer, speeding, no motorcycle endorsement, improper turn, failure to stop for a stop sign, failure to maintain lane control, driving left of center and displaying no registration plate.
Daker was taken to the Johnston County Detention Center and held under a $40,000 secured bond.
The Sampson County Sheriff’s Office and Johnston County Sheriff’s Office assisted Wayne County deputies in the investigation.
The motorcycle was seized under the NC Run and Done law.

Holy smokes! Take a breath, and try using proper punctuation, capitalization and grammar. I was 19 and made mistakes too, but not anywhere near this level of stupid, so I would agree with the other post. If this 19 year old killed someone close to you while “making a mistake” and “learning from it”, would you post the same thing?

Thank Lori, that was not a mistake, mistakes is when you don’t know or fully understand. That was breaking the law. I have definitely done stupid things when i was 19, and i was given NJP for it
He made really bad decisions and put people’s lives at risk. I’m smart enough to know not to out run cops and go those speeds.
This wasn’t a mistake. A mistake is putting on a blue sock with a black sock. This 19 yo made a choice. He made a decision to drive reckless, speed, run from the cops. operate with no insurance and on and on. All bad decisions…but not a mistake.
Unfortunately, he had some serious tragedy in his life that was beyond his control. Yes, he messed up and for sure put his life and others at risk but come one people. You really need to chill out with the comments about people when you have no idea of what they have been through. You cheer when people kill their children and care more about animals than human lives. Maybe, just maybe, you should show some grace and forgiveness towards people and stop running people down. This applies to this kid and everyone else in this world who messes up. He without sin and can cast the first stone…
