Clayton Man Killed In Traffic Accident
NASHVILLE, NC – A Clayton man was killed in a single vehicle accident this morning (Wednesday) in Nashville, NC. The Nashville Police Department responded with fire and EMS units to a 6:56am collision on the westbound side of US 64 near mile marker 457, not far from US 64 Alternate.
First responders arrived and found the victim, 19 year-old Emery Barton, deceased in the wrecked vehicle. Police said Barton was traveling westbound when he ran off the road to the left and lost control. His vehicle struck a group of trees in the median. Barton was wearing a seat belt, but police said due to the traumatic impact, he was killed instantly.
