Clayton Police Investigating Homicide

A man released from prison just three months ago was shot and killed inside his Clayton home early-Saturday.

Just before 2:00am, Clayton Police responded to a 911 at 68 Herndon Court in the Mitchiner Hills neighborhood.  When they arrived officers found 25 year-old Garrett Howard Bridges shot to death.

According to the NC Department of Corrections, Bridges was released from prison in March 2016 after being convicted of felony drug charges in Wake and Harnett counties. In 2012, Bridges received probation for misdemeanor drug offenses. And in 2010 he served two months behind bars for a conviction in Wake County of breaking and entering motor vehicles and receiving stolen goods.

The NC SBI has been called in to assist Clayton Police with the investigation.
