Clayton Police: Shooting Incident Was Not Random

Clayton Police say a shooting incident Monday night was not random. Around 11:30pm, officers responded to Amelia Village Apartments for a report of shots being fired.

Police arrived to find a 19 year-old male suffering from multiple gunshot wounds to his extremities. The victim was taken by ambulance to WakeMed where he was treated and released.

Two other individuals that were located at the residence were reportedly found to be in possession of illicit substances.

Jean Paul Rivera, 20, of Clayton and Destin Marquese Kelbaugh, 21, of Selma were charged with one count each of possession with intent to sell and deliver narcotics. Both individuals are being held in the Johnston County Jail under a $30,000 bond.

Clayton Police are still investigating the circumstances surrounding the shooting incident, but indicated that it does not appear to be random. Anyone with information related to this case are asked to contact the Clayton Police Department.
