A number of volunteers who participated in a recent roadside litter cleanup campaign received a big public “thank you” this week.
Recently, volunteers spread out across 70 miles of streets and roadways in Clayton and picked up beer bottles, cigarette butts and fast food wrappers. Altogether, 104 bags of trash were collected alongside the highways and greenways.
Stacy Beard, Public Information Officer, with the Town of Clayton said the volunteers take a lot of pride in Clayton and the way it looks.
Among those recognized were members of the Clayton High School Environmental Club, Clayton High National Honor Society, Grace Episcopal Church, Clayton Newcomers and Neighbors Club, Steve and Barbara Sandberg and Chris Taylor.
“Everything we do matters,” Clayton Mayor Jody McLeod told the volunteers. “Thank you for making a difference. We are proud of Clayton. Thank God we have people who care. It is deeply appreciated.” JoCoReport.com Photo
