Clayton Woman Faces Multiple Charges After DWI Arrest

CLAYTON — A 45-year-old Clayton woman faces multiple charges following her arrest for allegedly driving while impaired.

Amy Lynn Young, of Breland Drive, was stopped by a Johnston County sheriff’s deputy on January 16 on Raleigh Road in the McGee’s Crossroads community. Authorities said Young was suspected of driving while impaired.

During transport to the Johnston County Detention Center and while at the facility, Young allegedly threatened to harm the deputy and his family. She also reportedly spat on a detention officer.

Young refused to take a breathalyzer test. Authorities obtained a search warrant to collect a blood sample.

She has been charged with driving while impaired, reckless driving, expired registration, resisting a public officer, communicating threats, and malicious conduct by a prisoner. Young was held under a $200,000 secured bond.
