A Johnston County man has been linked to three armed robberies within a one week period of time. The suspect, James Talon Brennan of Langdon Pointe Drive, Garner was arrested Wednesday. Johnston County deputies said he lived near the scene of the crimes.
All the robberies occurred near the I-40/NC42 interchange in early-November.
During the first robbery on November 3rd, Brennan allegedly approached two Dollar General employees in the parking lot of the store at 10525 Cleveland Road as they were closing and locking the front door. Brennan reportedly brandished a 9 inch knife and demanded money.
Three days later, on November 6th, Brennan allegedly apologized to a 23 year-old woman he robbed at gunpoint at the State Employees Credit Union ATM on Commerce Parkway. Authorities said he told the woman he was “sorry” and that the money was “for his family.”
Around 7:20am on November 9th, the 27 year-old unemployed suspect attempted to rob a female employee as she was arriving at work at the Cleveland Draft House at 6101 Highway 42 West. Brennan was allegedly armed with a knife and a gun when he struggled with the woman causing her to fall to the ground and sustain minor injuries.
Brennan is being held in the Johnston County Jail under a $225,000 bond charged with three counts of robbery with a dangerous weapon and one count of assault with a deadly weapon. Detective Lt. Don Pate said it appears Brennan acted alone during the robberies. He was arrested at his home on Langdon Pointe Drive, off Cleveland Road, without incident.
