Clevonte Watson Selected As 2022 Recipient Of Reggie Carmichael Scholarship

SMITHFIELD – Clevonte Watson, a graduating senior at Smithfield Selma High School, has been selected as the 2022 recipient of the Reggie Carmichael Scholarship. Clevonte has been a three sport athlete at SSS. He played three years all-conference in football, two years all-conference in track, and one year all-conference in basketball.

In his spare time, Clevonte volunteered with Special Olympics, Stop Hunger Now, and at a local nursing home. He will be attending Johnson C. Smith University in Charlotte, NC to play football.

The Reggie Carmichael Scholarship is awarded annually in honor of Reggie who passed away in 2015. He was a phenomenal student athlete at SSS High where he excelled in basketball and football. Reggie, who was chosen as an “Outstanding Senior”, won the Tom Suiter’s Extra Award and participated in the NC/SC Shrine Bowl. He graduated in 1992. Reggie furthered his education by attending Winston Salem State University in Winston Salem, NC.

In honor of Reggie, The SSS Class of 1992 along with the Carmichael Family the “Reggie Carmichael Scholarship” is presented annual to help a deserving Graduating Senior attend college.
