SELMA – A Selma Police officer narrowly escaped being struck by a falling tree on East Preston Street near South Webb Street on Wednesday morning.
The officer was stopped when he saw the large tree falling directly toward him so quickly got out of the way, but a wire then fell in front of his police cruiser, trapping his patrol car between the tree and wire.
The tree pulled power and cable lines down, broke a pole and knocked power out to at least four nearby homes.
There were no injuries.
Selma Electric replaced the pole.
Thank God the officer was not injures.
