Expired: Cocaine Seized During Traffic Stop

A traffic stop near Micro Wednesday afternoon led to the discovery of cocaine with an estimated street value of nearly $1,500.

Shortly before 4:00pm, a Johnston County SAFE Team deputy was on routine patrol on Bizzell Grove Church Road at US 301 and stopped the driver of a Nissan Maxima for a safe movement violation.

As the officer approached the driver’s door of the car, Sheriff’s Captain Jeff Caldwell said the deputy detected an odor of marijuana coming from the interior of the car.  During a search of the vehicle a small amount of cocaine was found. A larger amount of cocaine, approximately 14.8 grams, was also discovered.

Jermaine Devone Walker, 21, of Blande Drive, Kenly was charged with felony possession with intent to sell or deliver cocaine, misdemeanor possession of marijuana and misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia.  Despite the seriousness of the charges, Walker’s bond was set at only $5,000.

    • I was laughing cuz they say how serious the offense was, compared to the 100’s of tons that are moved over that’s a joke in comparisson. His bail btw would of been much lower if he was talking..

        • You’re right I don’t, in our state it would be a low bail that’s nothing here, they got bigger things to do then lock ppl up for that small amount

          • Well drugs is drugs in my book. So I’ll leave it there. Glad you aren’t here, because your ass would be behind bars and payn too

          • I’m against the drug war, my ass is a college educated person, and believes the wasted money could be used for treatment programs not prison! I don’t milk the system, I work hard for what I have and don’t need to be spendong my taxes on ppl getting locked up that are non violent…

          • You got to want help before you can actually get help. Some of these folks don’t want to be helped.
