FOUR OAKS – A collision Monday morning sent four people to the hospital. The accident occurred around 10:00am on US Highway 701, just south of Oak Forest Road.
The State Highway Patrol said a white Chevrolet pickup, owned by the NC Department of Agriculture, was traveling northbound when it crossed the centerline line striking head on a white SUV traveling southbound. After the impact, the pickup ran off the roadway and collided head on with a tree.
The driver of the pickup was severely pinned in the wreckage. Strickland’s Crossroads Fire had to extricate the injured victim before he was rushed to WakeMed with serious but non-life threatening injuries.
Three people in the SUV, reported to be a man, woman, and their infant child, were transported to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
Charges are pending in the crash.
The accident shut down Highway 701 for approximately one hour.
