Johnston County Commissioners have approved the rezoning of a vehicle repair shop in a rural area in southern Johnston County.
Ronald Glenn Dunn of Benson told commissioners at their Oct. 1st meeting he was unaware his repair shop at 884 Woods Crossroads Road in the Meadow community was not properly zoned. The Planning Department received a complaint about the business in April 2018 prompting Dunn to apply for rezoning to bring his business into compliance.
No one spoke in opposition during the September planning board meeting or October commission meeting.
A neighbor, Wade Giddens, did speak in support of the rezoning saying Dunn had been a good neighbor for the past 20 years and he had no problems with the shop.
Commissioners voted unanimously to rezone 0.33 acres out of a 1.42 acre tract to General Business – Special Use District for the repair shop.
